原理
风向，是指风吹来的方向。一般在测定时有不同的方法。主要分海洋，大陆，高空进行确定。利用风向可以在人们的生活，生产，建厂，农业，交通，军事等各种领域发挥积极作用。
风速是指空气相对于地球某一固定地点的运动速率，风速的常用单位是m/s , 1m/s = 3.6 km/h。风速没有等级,风力才有等级，风速是风力等级划分的依据。一般来讲，风速越大，风力等级越高，风的破坏性越大。
目的
了解风速、风向并用风速表进行测定。
